Mezco Toyz’ Products Are Made By Fans For Fans
For many toy and action figure collectors, Mezco Toyz is a familiar name. The company has taken on big-league brand names like Funko, Hasbro, and Bandai to carve out its place in the collectible market. And fans are here for it. Mezco prioritizes quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and unique designs to bring fans the characters they love most, as well as original lines that never fail to surprise and delight.
Mezco stood out from the beginning thanks to its care and dedication to fans. The founder, Michael “Mez” Markowitz, has always had a passion for action figures and is an avid collector himself. He understands exactly what fans are looking for. In an interview back in 2008, Mike Drake, the then-Director of Special Projects, described Mezco as the company that sells toys “built by fans for fans.” It sets Mezco apart from many of its competitors and cements its status as a household name.
Many on the collectible scene will have encountered Mezco’s Living Dead Dolls. These eerie, captivating dolls were first produced in 1998 and now have a massive following. In 2014, the line was awarded the world record for the ‘Longest Continually Produced Series Of Collectible Horror Themed Dolls’. Over the past ten years, Living Dead Dolls have grown steadily more popular and the line has expanded with both original and character-based dolls. Each doll is meticulously designed and handcrafted. They’re strangely beautiful, despite the often-terrifying characters they depict.
Mezco’s superhero line has brought the company to many fans’ attention. The action figures are highly articulated and versatile. The Mezco One:12 Collective: The Amazing Spider-Man Deluxe Figure, for example, has thirty-two points of articulation, five different head portraits, and eighteen interchangeable hands, not to mention eight web formations. The attention to detail is simply staggering. It really demonstrates the care and love Mezco puts into each and every action figure. In a market overflowing with static collectibles, Mezco brings something new to the table.
As Mezco Toyz continues to evolve and expand its range, fans can look forward to even more exciting releases in the future. Mezco refuses to be boxed into a single genre. In addition to the Dead Living Dolls and superhero lines, it produces action figures for TV shows like Breaking Bad, Scooby Doo, and Popeye, and classic movies including Reservoir Dogs, Jim Carey’s The Mask, and the Indiana Jones series. Mezco shows its determination to have something for everyone. The company’s dedication to fans and commitment to quality, innovation, and originality has solidified its place as one of the leading brands in the action figure industry.
